How to write a home decor title that includes the frame

Decor listings go wrong when the photo is a styled corner of a room and the numbers are missing. A buyer needs the outer size, the material, and whether the glass is already cracked.

Outer dimensions before the style word

eBay’s 80 characters include spaces. For a mirror, a print, or a shelf, the object, material, color, and outer width and height identify it. Depth matters for a shelf, a lamp base, or a frame that stands out from the wall. The style word is optional and only useful when you can support it.

Home decor title formula

[Object] [Material] [Color] [Outer width x height] [Frame or mount]

“Vintage” stays if a backstamp or a dated label gives you a decade. Otherwise name the material. If the frame is excluded, the title should not imply it is included.

Mercari’s title stops at 80 characters and shows the start on a phone. Lead with the object and the inches. A rug needs both directions in the title when they fit: 5 ft x 8 ft, not “large.”

Print or original, and how it leaves the house

Say what the object is in the first Mercari lines: original, print, poster, or unknown. Then outer dimensions, whether the frame and glass are included, and the damage. Hanging hardware is a yes or no. A lamp needs “tested and lights” or “untested,” plus cord damage if you see it. Do not invent a safety certification you did not read on a label.

Fragile and oversized decor is often a Facebook Marketplace pickup. The opening lines should say the outer size, whether it is one piece, and if you have a box. Glass and mirrors need a warning that they are glass, not a promise that they will survive a courier you have not used. Price stays in the price field.

  • Art: image size and frame size, if both exist.
  • Mirrors: glass size and outer frame size.
  • Rugs: length and width in feet and inches, fringe included or excluded, pad not included unless it is.
  • Lamps: height to the finial, shade included or not, bulb included or not.

Specifics for material and size

Decor specifics usually ask for brand, type, material, color, style, and item dimensions. Leave brand blank or “unbranded” when there is no mark. A guessed pottery studio is a false brand.

  • Material you can see: wood, metal, glass, ceramic, textile, paper under glass.
  • Production method only when you know it: hand-thrown, machine-made, or a labeled print technique.
  • Room is optional. Do not invent “mid-century” from a color.
  • Signed: only when you can see a signature, and say where it is.

Glass, stains, and the hanging wire

  • Frame: chips, splits, and replaced sections.
  • Glass or mirror: cracks, desilvering, and scratches. Say if there is no glass.
  • Paper and canvas: foxing, waves, and sun fade.
  • Textiles: stains, odor, fringe loss, and holes. A rug stain is a condition even if the pattern hides it in a photo.
  • Lamps: frayed cord, wobble, and a shade that is burnt or absent.
  • Repairs you made, including glue you can see.

A tape on the outer edge

  • Front, straight on, whole object.
  • A tape on width and height.
  • The back, including hardware, signatures, and labels.
  • Close-ups of cracks, stains, and chips.
  • The cord and the socket, for a lamp.
  • Scale in the room only as an extra photo, not the only photo.

A styled shelf of similar objects is not a measurement. Buyers need the back, because that is where the hanging wire and the maker’s mark are.

Mistakes that arrive broken or smaller

  • Measuring the image and forgetting the frame.
  • Calling a print an original.
  • “Vintage” on a recent mass-market frame with no mark.
  • Promising hardware that is not on the back.
  • A mirror listed as solid when the silvering is gone in a corner.
  • Shipping glass with no mention that it is glass, and no pickup option when you cannot pack it.

When the outer dimensions, material, and damage are written down, the tool can draft eBay, Mercari, and Facebook Marketplace packs from those facts.

Templates stay in this tab and use only the facts you type. An optional AI draft sends resized photos and those facts to Cloudflare Workers AI, which writes the listing text. Photos and text are not sent to Kie. ByeByeFast does not save them. You check the draft and post it yourself. Nothing is auto-published.
